BUFFALO TWP — Michael Norris of Sarver won the Late Model feature on the final night of points racing Friday night at Lernerville Speedway, putting an end to Tyler Dietz’s quest of winning two points titles in the same season.

Dietz, of Saxonburg, began the night trailing Norris by two points. Having already wrapped up the Pro Stock points crown, Dietz was trying to become the first driver in 41 years to win two championships in the same year at the Sarver oval.

But Norris claimed his fifth feature win of the season at Lernerville, beating Levi Yetter to the checkered flag. Dietz finished fifth and wound up 11 points behind Norris in points.

Mark Smith won the Sprint feature while Rex King Jr. took the Modified race and Dietz the Pro Stock feature.

There were two make-up features run Friday from previous rainouts. AJ Flick won the Sprint feature that was rained out July 28 and Christian Schneider won the Pro Stock feature from an Aug. 11 rainout.

Joining Norris and Dietz as 2023 Lernerville points champions are Flick in Sprints and King in Modifieds.
