James and Susan Schwoebel

James and Susan Schwoebel celebrated 50 years of marriage with a weekend trip to Berkeley Springs, W.Va., where they honeymooned.

Schwoebel married the former Susan Reddick on Aug. 18, 1973, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Herman.

They have two children, Andrea (Michael) Cook of Richmond, Va., and Curtis (Sofia) Schwoebel of Gotene, Sweden.

They also have six grandchildren.

Schwoebel is a retired school teacher and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is a member of the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company.

Mrs. Schwoebel is a retired financial accountant.

The couple has traveled across the United States in their camper and on Amtrak trains. They most enjoyed working in Yellowstone National Park at the Old Faithful General Store.
