East Butler closes strong

Baseball team wins final 4 games at Freeport Invitational

FREEPORT — East Butler won its final four games in the 29th annual Freeport Invitational baseball event after dropping its opener, 7-3, to Mercyhurst.

This marked the first season East Butler — of the Butler County Area Baseball League — participated in the Invitational.

Victories were 10-0 over Armstrong, 4-1 and 9-3 over Springdale, and 12-0 over the Cleveland Warhawks. Keir Morris and Jacob Wagner combined to blank Armstrong on one hit. Morris struck out six in four innings, Wagner fanned four in two frames.

Braden Kriley struck out nine in a route-going mound effort against Springdale in the 4-1 win. Wagner had three hits and scored a pair of runs. Cody Stroup and Colton Dickinson had two hits each.

Wagner struck out eight in going the distance in the 9-3 win over Springdale. Easton Fundark scored three runs and Wagner, Cody Fike and Zarian Finucan had two hits each.

Cody Stuhl struck out nine in 4.2 innings against the Warhawks,. Finucan pitched 1.1 innings to preserve the shutout. Fike had a two-run double, Morris a three-run double. Stroup had two hits and scored two runs while Teegan Finucan scored a pair of runs.
