While the Memorial Park Pool was seeing daily attendance in the hundreds when it opened for the summer in June 1970, the pool at Alameda Park was just being constructed.

After several years on the drawing board, contractors had almost completed the excavation on Alameda Park by June 11, 1970. The swimming area was in the works, while the excavation for a bathhouse area was almost done, which would reportedly “provide a relaxing spot for Butler Countians to spend their leisure hours.”

The Memorial Park Pool would close in 2004, and was filled in near the end of 2021.

Construction began on a swimming pool at Alameda Park in June 1970, and was expected to be open on July 20.
