Fidium Fiber plans to expand the service coverage of its all-fiber internet network to more than 2,000 homes and businesses in Butler and Allegheny counties.

These areas include Allison Park, Cranberry Township, Freeport, Gibsonia, Mars and Sarver.

The work of installing new fiber optic lines along roads and in public utility areas requires some digging and climbing of utility poles, company officials said.

Crews will be working along the edge of private property within the public right-of-way, as well as public utility easements. This work may require some temporary traffic detours, noise and dust, officials said.

Construction has already started in some locations, with further build-out scheduled for the coming weeks.
