1 killed, 3 injured in crash on Route 8 near Litman Road

BUTLER TWP — One person was killed and three were injured in a fatal crash Tuesday evening, June 6, on Route 8, a Tuesday press release said. One of the injured was airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital.

Butler Township Volunteer Fire District was dispatched around 6:52 p.m. to the crash, which involved three vehicles on Route 8 near the Greater Butler Mart.

According to Michael Schmidt, assistant chief of Butler Township fire district, one person was transported by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital and another was flown to Pittsburgh by STAT MedEvac.

The Butler County coroner was called to the scene, Schmidt said.

State police were completing an accident reconstruction, he said.

The intersection at Route 8 and Litman Road was expected to be closed for several hours.

Among the departments that responded to the scene were Butler Township Volunteer Fire District, Butler Bureau of Fire, Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department, Butler Ambulance Service, Butler city police, Butler Township police and Penn Township police.
