Robert Wagle

Wagle

Peacefully into the arms of God, Robert Lynn Wagle passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023. Robert “Bob” was the beloved husband of Jeanne; devoted father of Matthew (Dionna) of Pittsburgh, and Andrew (Robyn) of Middletown, Md.; and proud grandfather of Sydney, Abby, and Emma. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Wagle and a daughter-in-law, Kimberly Wagle.

He was born in Pittsburgh, the son to the late Harold and Wilena “Sally” Wagle but spent the majority of his life in Valencia, where he met his wife of nearly 60 years. Upon his graduation in 1958 from Mars High School, he studied English Literature at Edinboro University. He and Jeanne married on June 28, 1963, at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Warrendale. Shortly after their nuptials, Bob left to serve in the United States Army in the Vietnam War as an artillery specialist.

After his service in the Army, Bob and Jeanne settled in Middlesex Township and began their longtime membership and worship at Glade Run Presbyterian Church, where he served in numerous roles, including as a member of the cemetery restoration committee.

Bob retired from American Hardware after 40 years working as a long haul truck driver. Upon his retirement, he received a commendation for a perfect, accident free record during his long career and was the recipient of multiple safety awards. After retirement, Bob and Jeanne enjoyed many years spending their summers in Indian Lake, Pa., and winters at their home in Lake Placid, Fla.

From his early years, Bob was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, boating and sporting clays, a love he instilled in his sons. He enjoyed many memorable trips with his family, including camping excursions in the “beloved” van to Lake Huron and Kinzua Dam. Favorite memories are trips to Hawaii and Bermuda, a Caribbean cruise, and several family trips to Maryland and Delaware beaches. For their 50th anniversary, Bob and Jeanne enjoyed a trip to California, where they visited the redwood forest and other sights. But mostly, Bob crafted a life around the love he had for his wife, children, granddaughters and friends.

He is remembered by those who knew him as intelligent, loyal and humble. He was a protector, provider and a true gentleman. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He will always be remembered by his family with great love and admiration. He will be dearly missed by all.
