Mars volleyball players honored

ADAMS TWP — Seven Mars boys volleyball players have been named Section 2 all-stars.

Making first team were junior middle hitter Ryan Ceh, sophomore outside hitter Derek Piatek and sophomore setter Kyler Robinson. Senior middle hitter Connor Tomcik, junior outsider hitter Tyler Raabe and junior libero Colton Riska made second team.

Junior right-side hitter Liam Quinn was a third-team selection.

Anderson, Bryan help Pitt win

DURHAM, N.C. — Mars graduate Jack Anderson delivered a run-scoring single and Butler graduate Nash Bryan recorded his eighth save of the season as Pitt’s baseball team defeated Notre Dame, 9-5, Wednesday in Game 1 of pool play round action in the ACC Championships.

Bryan entered the game with two outs in the eighth inning and got the final four outs of the game for the Panthers. Pitt belted five home runs in the victory and plays top-ranked Wake Forest Thursday morning.

Mars grad Cimini academic all-district

GREENWOOD, Ind. — Mars graduate Stephanie Cimini, a 2023 Westminster College graduate and a women’s lacrosse player there, has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At Large team.

Cimini was a second team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference selection this spring, scoring 35 goals and adding 16 assists. She had 84 goals in her college career. She graduated from Westminster with degrees in finance and accounting.

To qualify for CSC Academic All-District, student-athletes must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
