David VanDyke

VanDyke

David A. VanDyke, 98, of Evans City, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, while under the care of Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born April 27, 1925, in Butler, he was the son of the late David and Marian Clare Rea VanDyke.

David was a member of the Connoquenessing United Methodist Church.

He married his wife, Patricia Snider VanDyke, on Oct. 28, 1950.

He was a self-employed truck driver and belonged to the Teamsters union.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mowing at home and at church. He also was involved with Meals on Wheels. He was a straight-A student while in school. He loved the Pittsburgh Pirates and played baseball in his younger years as a pitcher. He was avid about his sons’ swimming and as long as their grades were kept up, he would take them to any meet, and they could hunt if they wanted.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 72½ years, Patricia Snider VanDyke; his children, Cathy Ann (Fred) Williams of Connoquenessing, Mark E. (Cindy) VanDyke of Shippenville and Stephen B. (Robin) VanDyke of Evans City; his six grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; and his daughter-in-law, Linda Sahli VanDyke.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his son, David L. VanDyke; and his granddaughter, Jennifer VanDyke.

VANDYKE — The family of David A. VanDyke, who died Monday, May 22, 2023, will hold a celebration of his life at a later date.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER OF CONNOQUENESSING, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.
