Jackson L. “Jack” Bonus, 74, of Harmony, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 12, 2023, while under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice.

Born Feb. 27, 1949, in Washington, Pa., he was the son of the late Domenic Bonus and Mary Mazzie Bonus.

Jack graduated from Washington High School and went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree in economics from California State University.

Jack began his career in insurance as an agent for Prudential. In 1979, he founded Jack L. Bonus Insurance in Zelienople, a thriving insurance agency that continues in operation today. Jack was a certified insurance counselor and sat on many boards over the years.

Jack served as vice chairman of the Zelienople Airport Authority, a role he enjoyed greatly as the airport expanded and updated in recent times.

A lifetime NRA member, Jack was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything that brought him into the woods. Jack enjoyed shooting skeet as often as he could. He shared this love of hunting with others, introducing many to the sport and investing in youth sportsmen’s clubs.

Jack was a great friend to many and full of fun and laughter. He loved the work he did and enjoyed investing in his local community through the sponsorships of numerous Little League sports teams.

Jack leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Jennifer (Craig) Harper of Fox Point, Wis.; his sister, Sandra (Earl) Redd; his grandsons, Robert Fyock and Devin Fyock; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen L. Craig, Jean B. Moninger and Peg Shaw.

BONUS — Per his request, no services will be held for Jackson L. “Jack” Bonus, who died Friday, May 12, 2023.

Arrangements have been entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.

In keeping with the spirit of generosity Jack exhibited throughout his life, donations in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
