Margaret Gillman
Margaret “Marge” Gillman, 94, of Butler, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 7, 2023. For the past 10 years, she had been living at Concordia at the Orchard in Center Township.
Born Dec. 10, 1928, she was the youngest of nine children born to Anthony and Tillie Staryat.
Marge graduated from Butler High School.
She married her beloved husband, Clarence “Red” Gillman on Oct. 8, 1955, at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. For many years, she and Red attended St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Center Township. Red passed away on Nov. 23, 2011.
Marge retired as a teaching technician from Clarence Brown School in 1983, when she and Red relocated to Lima, Ohio, so that he could work as a production supervisor at the General Dynamics Abrams tank plant, until he retired in 1989.
Following retirement, Marge was active in Meals on Wheels and was honored as the Charitable Woman of the Year in Lima, Ohio, for her work with young mothers.
Marge is survived by her only son, Kyle Gillman and his wife, Brette, of Fox Chapel; three grandchildren, Tate Beaudouin and her husband, Kyle, of Boston, Grant Gillman of Pittsburgh, and Tucker Gillman of New York City.
GILLMAN — A liturgy for Margaret “Marge” Gillman, who died Sunday, May 7, 2023, was held Saturday at St. Michael Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Lyndora, with Father Douglas Lorance presiding.
Burial was held at Butler County Memorial Park.
Funeral arrangements were made through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
