Rockets break another school record

Slippery Rock’s boys 4x100-meter relay quartet turned in a superb effort Thursday at the Mercer County track and field meet in Grove City.

The team of Tyler Arblaster, Levi Prementine, Trent Davey and Eli Anderson finished in a time of 43.31 seconds, breaking the school record. The performance is also the top Class AA boys time in the entire state.

Following are Slippery Rock’s results from the event.

Boys

1st place — 400 relay: Slippery Rock (Tyler Arblaster, Levi Prementine, Trent Davey, Eli Anderson) 43.31; Long jump: Levi Prementine 22-7.5; Shot put: Zach Hoehn 45-2.25; 110 hurdles: Eli Anderson 15.50; 400 run: Tyler Arblaster 51.48

2nd place — Shot put: Braiden Reich 44-6.25

3rd place — Triple jump: Dustin Joyce 41-1; Javelin: Blaise Mulen 140-6

6th place — Long jump: Dustin Joyce 20-10.25

7th place — 1,600 run: Viktor Zahn 4:41.28; 400 run: Anthony Robare 55.65; Shot put: Konrad Kozminski 40-1; Discus: Zach Hoehn 115-9

8th place — 800 run: Viktor Zahn 2:06.48

Girls

2nd place — Javelin: Natalie Double 105-3; Pole vault: Elise DiFrischia 9-6; 3,200 relay: Slippery Rock (Ashley Ragan, Tessa Szymanski, Raely FaJohn, Halie Halberg) 10:46.44

3rd place — 100 hurdles: Ali Popovec 14.36; 400 relay: Slippery Rock (Reagan Yova, Lexi Plesakov, Aiva Reich, Julia Coffaro) 53.24

4th place — 100 hurdles: Aiva Reich 16.42; 300 hurdles: Aiva Reich 49.92; 1,600 run: Tessa Szymanski 5:41.29; High jump: Julia Coffaro 4-11; Triple jump: Julia Coffaro 32-4.5

5th place — 800 run: Ashley Ragan 2:30.72

6th place — 100 dash: Lexi Plesakov 13.40; 200 dash: Lexi Plesakov 28.27; Long jump: Julia Coffaro 15-11.25

7th place — 3,200 run: Leah Perez 13:58.25

8th place — Javelin: Ann-Katherine Burns 88-9

Knoch’s Kendall Loos went a school-record 17 feet, 10½ inches in the long jump at Thursday’s Northern Area Last-Chance Meet and qualified for the upcoming WPIAL Class 2A Championships.

Baseball

Tyler Asti, Jack Smetak and Jon Hotalski each had two hits to lead Freeport to a 9-5 win over Knoch at Pullman Park on Thursday.

Brady Stivenson earned the win after working the first four innings and Smetak pitched three scoreless innings in relief for the playoff-bound Yellowjackets (14-5).

Jacob Wagner had two singles for Knoch while Mason Phillips tripled, scored three runs and drove in one. The Knights end the season with a record of 3-15.

Butler 6, Penn-Trafford 5 — The Golden Tornado scored all of their runs between the third and fifth innings.

Noah Collins hit a solo home run and Conner McTighe had two hits, including a triple, and joined Lance Slater in driving in a pair of runs.

Mac Schnur pitched five innings of relief to earn the win, allowing two runs on five hits.

Butler (12-8) will compete in the WPIAL playoffs.

Girls Lacrosse

Winchester Thurston 15, Freeport 6 — Ava Dreher scored three times for the Yellowjackets and teammate Abby Legin made 10 saves.

Lillie Snow and Saige Smith both scored a goal and added an assist. Kiana Armstead scored once.
