McGrady-Payne

Thalia L. McGrady-Payne, 80, of Butler, passed away on May 8, 2023, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 28, 1942, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late J. Francis Eberle and the late Evelyn M. (Brown) Eberle.

Thalia was a 1960 graduate of Butler High School. She was a 1964 graduate of Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing, and a 1978 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, where she went through the CRNP program.

Thalia was on the board of directors of Butler Hospital, Butler Meals on Wheels, and the Butler Symphony. She also was on the board of directors of the Friends of Saxonburg, South Butler Library. Thalia was an associate of Operating Room Nurses, and the Pennsylvania Nurses Association.

Thalia is survived by her one son, James W. (Christina) McGrady of Butler; one daughter, Sharon L. (Robert) Johnson of Butler; and one brother, William L. (Barbara) Eberle of Hilton Head Island, S.C.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James R. McGrady, whom she married on June 20, 1964, and who passed away on Dec. 25, 2012; and her second husband, retired 1st Sgt. Homer S. Payne, whom she married on Dec. 16, 2018, and who passed away on Jan. 26, 2022.

MCGRADY-PAYNE — Friends of Thalia L. McGrady-Payne, who died Monday, May 8, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., Butler, with Pastor Merry H. Meloy officiating.

Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
