Sue Sasse

Sasse

Sue Alberta Sasse, 83, of Butler, passed away Monday evening, April 24, 2023, at her home.

She was born in Butler on June 13, 1939, and was a daughter of the late John Zellerino and Ethel Geraldine (Fend) Zellerino.

Sue was an avid cook and baker. She enjoyed sharing this passion as she worked in food service for the YWCA and the Lighthouse, in addition to having her own catering business.

She is survived by her husband, Jay O. Sasse Sr., whom she married Feb. 8, 1958.

She is also survived by her children, Terri (Mark) Rettig of South Carolina, Jay (Lorraine) Sasse Jr. of Butler and John (Cindy) Sasse of Tennessee; four grandchildren, Shannon Clauser, Ashley, Daniel Raiburn and London Sasse; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Ann (Tom) Cook of Butler and Patricia Davis of West Sunbury.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Donald Sasse; a great-grandson, Caiden; two sisters, Alice Spinneweber and Judith Hoffman; and two brothers, Cyril Gene Fend and John V. Zellerino.

“When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand; and said my place was ready, in Heaven far above, and that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, and each time that you think of me, I know you’ll miss me too. But when I walked through Heaven’s gates, I felt so much at Home, for God looked down, smiled at me, and told me ‘Welcome Home.’ So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right there, in your heart.”

SASSE — Services at this time will be private for the family of Sue Alberta Sasse, who died Monday, April 24, 2023.

Arrangements are being handled by GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
