Martha Kopie

Martha Kopie, 86, of Newark, Del., passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023.

She was born in Butler on Dec. 2, 1936, and was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Gonko) Adams.

Martha was known for her love of music and animals, being a hard worker, and a great mother and wife.

She was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church of Lyndora.

She worked as a banquet manager for Tanglewood and Holiday Inn for over 15 years combined. With her experience, she had the honor of planning the Bicentennial Parade in 1976, and the Diamond Park time capsule. She was also a past president of the Women’s Intermediate League of Butler.

One of her favorite hobbies was Pysanky, decorating Ukrainian eggs.

Martha was the mother of George Brian Kopie and Kelly Kopie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Kopie, whom she was married to for over 30 years until his passing in 1989; and her brother, John Adams.

KOPIE — Graveside burial prayers for Martha Kopie, who died Friday, April 14, 2023, will be said at 10 a.m. Monday at Rose Hill Cemetery.
