Ankrom

Alan Timothy Ankrom, 73, of Butler, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his family after a good fight against pancreatic cancer.

Tim was born in Butler, on Sept. 29, 1949, a son of the late Audrey Arlene (Ross) and Daniel Ankrom.

Tim graduated from Freeport High School in 1967, where he played football and ran track. He later attended Clarion College, majoring in English and was a part of the Clarion football team. On Feb. 27, 1970, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Phu Lam, Vietnam, from June 1970 to May 1972 working as a teletypewriter repairman. After his honorable discharge from the service, he worked at U.S. Steel in Saxonburg. He then went on to be a mail carrier for the Sarver Post Office for 21 years. During that time, in the evenings he worked as a sewage enforcement officer for several townships within Butler County. He was a member of Sarver Wesleyan Methodist Church. Tim loved going to the races at Lernerville Speedway, as he raced in his younger years, then was part of the Brett McDonald pit crew. Through his life he liked working on cars, especially bodywork using tiger hair, or PB blaster to get a tight bolt. Tim enjoyed hunting, watching football and spending time with his family.

Tim is survived by his children, Sharon (Russell) Patrick of Morgantown, W.Va., William Ankrom of New Bethlehem, Matthew (Kristen) Ankrom of Mars and Laura Ankrom of Butler. He is also survived by his grandson, Logan Patrick, and a granddaughter on the way; two sisters, Marjorie (James) Lambert of Oklahoma and Louave (Hugh) Foster of New York; his brother, Don (Cheryl) Ankrom of Butler; his furry BFF, Kitty, that he always claimed to dislike; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Noreen Real and Arlene Danella Ankrom; as well as a stepson, Jason E. Noullet.
