Mary Veccharella
Mary K. Veccharella, 96, of Valencia, passed away on Good Friday morning, April 7, 2023, in the comfort of her home with her family at her side.
Born in Bakerstown on June 28, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Emma Petrovan Prusnak.
Mary had been a registered nurse and was director of nursing at St. John’s Convalescent Home, now Valencia Woods, and more recently was a medical claims auditor for nursing homes, having worked until she was 80 years old.
She was a member of Holy Sepulcher Church in Glade Mills.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Veccharella, who died on March 6, 1972; her daughter, Mary Ann Kier; a granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Turner; a grandson, Abraham Joshua Patrus; and her sisters, Agnes Smutney, Helen Portfilio and Florence Danner.
She loved spending time with her family very much. She was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed watching all the Pittsburgh sports teams. She also enjoyed spending time with her widow and widowers group and being with family at her condo in Florida.
She was the beloved mother of Patti Acquaviva (Patrick) of Butler; Suzanne Oslos (Neil M.D.) of Ormond Beach, Fla.; Paula Turner (Rick) of Lakeland, Fla.; Joanne Boyle (the late Wayne) of The Villages, Fla.; Roseanne Riemenscheider (William) of Acme, Pa.; Theresa Boyle (Edward) of Clayton, N.C.; Carol Lamagna of Mars; Vincent Paul Veccharella (Bonnie) of Coconut Creek, Fla.; and Joseph Veccharella of Land O’Lakes, Fla.
She was the mother-in-law of Mark “Marco” Kier of Valencia; and also had 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; was the sister of Josephine Monteleone (Joseph) of Butler, and Kathleen Cervone of Gibsonia; and had many nieces and nephews.
VECCHARELLA — Friends of Mary K. Veccharella, who died Friday, April 7, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Sepulcher Church, 1304 E. Cruikshank Road, Butler, with Father Charles Bober, pastor, officiating. Please meet at the church.
Burial will be held in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Butler.
