Demolition of the McDonald’s at Greater Butler Mart is scheduled to begin Thursday, March 30, and a groundbreaking ceremony for the new restaurant will take place at 10 a.m. April 3.

A new 3,915-square-foot McDonald’s will be built at the location.

The restaurant will feature a modern layout with two drive-up lanes, mobile order and pay capabilities as well as curbside pickup.

Inside, customers will find digital kiosks, table service and touch-screen games for children.

“We’re proud of our distinguished history and our pre-eminent operations today,” owner and operator Meghan Sweeney said. “But most of all, we take our commitment to local communities very seriously.”

All 55 employees of the restaurant have been offered positions at other nearby McDonald’s restaurants.

A reopening is anticipated for July , with the plan to add 10 to 15 employees to the roster.
