Marilyn Glasgow

Glasgow

Marilyn Ethel Glasgow, 92, of Butler, went to be with the precious Savior on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

She was born Dec. 11, 1930, in Jefferson Township, daughter to the late Forest H. Burtner and Mary Lena (Giles) Burtner, the youngest of 17 children.

Marilyn was a kind caring person willing to do anything for anyone, especially her family. She always had a listening ear. She was a great hostess to any guest. "Do you want a cup of coffee?"

Marilyn always loved and served Jesus, and her desire was that everyone she knew come to love and follow Jesus too. She played the organ for more than 69 years and was active in many other church ministries. For example, she was a deaconess and a Sunday school teacher, and she served in the bus ministry and arranged flowers for the church.

She was self-employed as a Rawleigh dealer for 50 years. Her first job was at Offutt's; then she worked for the Butler County Courthouse in the Recorder of Deed's Office and at Montgomery Ward.

Marilyn is survived by four sons, Dennis (Catherine) Glasgow, Ted (Tammy) Glasgow, Jamie (Macia) Glasgow and Paul (Brenda); eight grandchildren, Nicole Glasgow, Shannon Clarke, Ryan (Gus) Glasgow, Lindy Turney, Leslie Fabris, Kenneth Glasgow, Dylan Glasgow and Jake Glasgow; 10 great-grandchildren; her brother, Harry Burtner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Glasgow, whom she married on June 25, 1951, and who passed away July 26, 2000; one grandson, Chad Glasgow; five sisters; and 10 brothers.
