Local PennDOT district wins award
The state Department of Transportation’s District 10, which includes Butler County, is the recipient of the 2022 Outstanding Highway Engineering Award from the American Society of Highway Engineers.
District 10 was recognized for its Brady’s Run 3 project in Gilpin Township, Armstrong County.
Mekis Construction Corp., of Clearfield Township, the project’s contractor, will receive the award along with District 10 and AECOM Technical Services, the project’s design consultant, at society’s May meeting.
The one-lane Brady’s Run Bridge was replaced with a two-lane, updated version.
The bridge, which a PennDOT news release called an important community connector, carries 256 vehicles per day over Brady’s Run.
