Man allegedly shot at McKees Rocks officer, agents

A man accused of shooting at attorney general agents and a McKees Rocks police officer on Feb. 27 was taken into custody Thursday, March 16, 2023, according to Stephen Zappala Jr., district attorney for Allegheny County.

Eric Durah Jr., 25, of Pittsburgh, was charged with several counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, assault of a law enforcement officer, criminal attempt, arson, carrying a firearm without a license, conspiracy and tampering with evidence following the incident.

According to documents, Durah was allegedly involved in a group that shot at multiple officers’ vehicles in an alleyway near Dohrman Street in Stowe Township, Allegheny County.

Documents showed that Durah’s vehicle was positively identified around 12:40 p.m. and followed by officers when the vehicle began speeding excessively and weaving in and out of traffic.

Later that afternoon, police said the vehicle was spotted again, and three occupants began shooting at officers. A second law enforcement vehicle was shot at when another agent attempted to pursue the car through a neighborhood.

The vehicle was later located in Mount Washington, and security footage showed it had been set on fire, police said. During a vehicle search, multiple items belonging to Durah were found, and officers identified Durah as a suspect following an investigation involving cell phone data and security footage.

No officers were reported injured from the incident.
