Eugene Brown

Brown

Eugene Brown passed at UPMC on Saturday, March 11, 2023, one day shy of his 86th birthday.

“Gene” graduated from Uhrichsville High School in Ohio in 1955, and with a general machinist apprenticeship with Warner & Swasey of New Philadelphia, Ohio, in 1959. Gene served for several years on the Gnadenhutten, Ohio, volunteer fire department, achieving a rank of training captain.

Another very proud accomplishment included the design and self-contracting of an Amish-built home for his family of five. Gene relocated to Western Pennsylvania to serve as account representative for the Gradall Division, and later with Dart Truck Company. For health reasons and out of pure joy, Gene became an avid cyclist, having participated in nine charity fundraising events over a 10-year period. Gene bicycled almost 1,000 miles per year for the last two decades, his last in 2022.

His membership since 1966 with Knights of Columbus saw him reach positions of Grand Knight (Council 11838), former district deputy and past faithful navigator of Queen of Angels Assembly, and had participated for 15 years with the Fourth Degree Color Corps.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Maxine Brown; his wife, Audrey (Sidoti) Brown; and his daughter, Karen (DeCampli) Brown.

Gene is survived by his sons, Mark and Julie Brown, and Tom and Cindy Brown; and his grandchildren, Alexander, Elliott, Gage DeCampli, Kayla (Claar), and Logan Brown.

He will be deeply missed.

BROWN — Memorial services for Eugene Brown, who died Saturday, March 11, 2023, will be held at a later date in Ohio.
