James “Jim” L. Barkley, 81, of Evans City, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023, while under the care of St. John Specialty Care.

Born June 27, 1941 in Prospect, he was the son of the late John and Margaret Flinner Barkley. Jim’s work history included Halstead Industries as well as Billco Manufacturing. Jim was also employed by Marburger Dairy.

Jim was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he served as deacon.

He was involved extensively in area Awana Clubs. He also was actively involved in the Portersville Steam Show. Above all, he was committed to his family and cherished time with them. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by all.

Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 62 years, Carol Kuhns Barkley of Evans City; his children, John (Wendy) Barkley of Evans City, Mark (Janine) Barkley of Zelienople and Tim (Michelle) Barkley of Evans City; his grandchildren, Sam (Madelynn), Liam, Sarah, Grant, Luke (Jessie Dressler), Joel, Olivia and Alexis; his great-grandchildren, Cole, Chase, Carter and Chloe; and his sister, Kay (Dan) Thiebaud of Zelienople.

BARKLEY — Friends of James “Jim” L. Barkley, who died Saturday, March 11, 2023, will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2023, at the BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 116 E. Main St., Evans City.

Additional visitation time will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor John Barkley officiating.

Jim will be laid to rest at Evans City Cemetery in Evans City.

Donations may be made in Jim’s honor to “Grace in Kenya” an outreach ministry of Grace Community Church. Please send donations to 9160 Marshall Road, Cranberry Township, PA 16066. Checks may be made payable to Grace Community Church with “Grace in Kenya” in the memo line. Please include a note with your donation in memory of Jim Barkley.
