Andrew Procter Sr.

Procter

Andrew James Procter Sr., of Butler, passed away in his sleep on Feb. 26, 2023. He was 80 years old.

Born on Dec. 4, 1942, in Butler, he was raised by his mother and two sisters.

He was a graduate of Butler High School. Although he only took a few classes at Butler County Community College to get his job at Armco Steel, he had the mind of a Ph.D. candidate and was a lifelong learner, filled with endless curiosity.

He married the love of his life, Louise, in 1966. He was the “yin to her yang.” They were loyal soul mates for 56 years of marriage. They loved music, particularly The Beatles, Eagles, Stones, Michael and Bruce.

Together they traveled on adventures up and down the U.S., introducing their children to many states and their histories, parks, beaches and golf courses. He was raised without a father, but taught himself to be a great dad. He was the biggest fan of all his children’s and grandchildren’s endeavors.

He spent his entire career as a proud member of the rigger shop at Armco.

He was a Steelers fan who actually made steel. He was a funny guy, and a great listener and conversationalist. He found other people fascinating and could talk on many topics. By turns, he tried his hand at hunting, photography, bartending, woodworking and gardening, and even joined a gym at age 79 and worked out almost every day. But he found his true relaxation on the golf course. He was a good soul. We never saw him lie or cheat anyone his whole life, except for hiding $20 each month from his wife to buy extra beer with his golf buddies at the 19th hole.

He is survived by three children, five grandchildren and a great-grandson. We all love and miss you, Dad.
