Kirin

Velma Jean Kirin, 95, of Portersville, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023, at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Butler.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1927, in Millvale, and was the daughter of Lloyd A. Brown and Anna Schenske Brown.

She was a member of St. Christopher at the Lake Parish in Prospect.

She was a published poet and loved reading, gardening and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son, Thomas Kirin, and his wife, Mary Lou, of Portersville; three grandchildren, Nicole (James) Wilson of Butler, Kelly (Andrew) Mackrell of Stuttgart, Germany, and Michael Kirin of Portersville; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. Kirin, whom she married on July 17, 1948, and who died Nov. 7, 1973; one great-granddaughter; four brothers; and three sisters.

KIRIN — As per her wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services for Velma Jean Kirin, who died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023.

Arrangements and cremation services were entrusted to JAY BRYAN FUNERAL HOME in Prospect.
