Anthony Remis

Remis

Anthony J. Remis, 54, of Plum, formerly of Kittanning, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.

Born Feb. 11, 1969, in Kittanning, he was the son of Anthony and Dolores (Foradori) Remis.

Tony’s fondest memories were of his childhood, growing up in the country, exploring wildlife, enjoying his family, and attending DePaul Institute for Deaf Children in grade school. After graduation from St. Joseph High School in Natrona Heights, he attended the National Technological Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, N.Y., then later received his B.A. in education from State University of New York in Oswego.

Tony worked in deaf education throughout his career and eventually retired from the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Pittsburgh, where he nurtured and taught the children he adored.

Tony loved people and was always ready to help. He will be remembered for his infectious smile, sense of humor, kind heart and loving nature. He made life a celebration and laughed every day. He entertained with recounts of his many mishaps and adventures, but above all, he will be remembered for his deep love and devotion to family and for being the best papa to his boys.

Tony is survived by his wife, Deborah (Pollock) Remis of Plum; his sons, Walker and Elijah Remis, also of Plum; his parents, Anthony and Dolores Remis of Kittanning; his mother-in-law, Ann (the late James) Pollock of Seneca, Pa.; his sisters, Alexandria (Wayne) Schultz of Butler and Elizabeth Remis of Kittanning; his sister-in-law, Kathrine (Daniel) Henderson of Houston, Texas; his brother-in-law, Thomas (Kayla) Pollock of Clarion; his nephew, Philip Schultz of Butler; his niece, Theresa Schultz of Phoenix, Ariz.; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his crazy dog, Benny.
