Janise Bentley

Bentley

Janise Wheeler Bentley, of Mars, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 12, 2023, surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claire and William Harris.

Janise leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Kim Rovnan (George); her son, E.J. Wheeler (Jamie); the love of her life, Tim Bentley, who she was married to for 35 years; her stepchildren, Tim Bentley (Holly) and Megan Graham (Scott); her grandchildren, Matthew (Karesa), Courtney (Daniel), Kelsey (Jim), Abbie, Timmy, Michael, Christopher, Jackson and Kierstyn; and her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Addyson, James, Theodore, Cole, Ava and Maddox.

Janise loved her dachshunds, Rudi, Schultz, Heidleberg, Frankie and Harley; and her grandpuppies, Tyson and Reesie.

She was the special aunt to Thomas, Bonnie Lee and Kerry.

Janise loved her many treasured friends, and she had many beautiful and dear cousins in her life.

Janise was born in Wexford, along with her sister, Margaret (Bonnie), in a traditional Roman Catholic home. She attended St. Alphonsus School and Perry High School.

Janise was the best mother, cook, baker, cheerleader and supporter. Janise’s fondest memories were centered on family. She enjoyed watching her son play football at WVU, attended all of her grandchildren’s sporting events, bought sweet snacks for rewards, and bragged in a prideful way.

She will be remembered for her quick wit, creativity and sense of humor, always making people laugh. She had a way with words and writing, and always wrote special notes and words of encouragement on greeting cards no matter the occasion.

Janise had many accomplishments beyond the home front, including her position as a financial planner for John Hancock Life Insurance for 25 years. She helped many people along the way, and ultimately became friends with them.

Janise was a self-taught jack of many trades. She knew how to fix things and always did things the right way. Hard work, loyalty to her friends and family and thriftiness were steadfast and real qualities in her life. She loved God, valued people and animals, and helped those who were down on their luck.

Any time of the day, you could find Janise (GiGi) cooking a hardy meal that she was happy to share. Her freezer was always full, and she had an abundance of advice to give along with her meals. Her passion for cooking will continue to live on through her family with the cooking lessons she eagerly shared of homemade noodles, pudding pies and stuffing.

Janise’s incredible life, her love for family and her determination and perseverance will continue to be paid forward in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is engraved in each of the hearts of her loved ones she leaves behind.

Her family takes comfort in knowing they will see her again someday. She will be waiting at the gates of Heaven — smiling in her glitzy clothes with diamond rings, matching earrings, rosary, and tissues in her pocket — with special words of encouragement and advice that she will be waiting to share. She will be flanked with her beloved dachshunds, Christmas decorations that she just couldn’t part with, and pictures of her family, her most endearing treasure.

Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. So loved, so missed, so very dear.
