Rock hoops swept by Seton Hill

SLIPPERY ROCK — Down by 14 points in the second half Saturday, Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team battled back to tie Seton Hill before dropping an 83-72 decision at Morrow Field House.

The Rock slipped to 14-8 overall, 8-8 in league games. Seton Hill is now 13-9, 8-8.

Khalid Gates tallied 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists for SRU. Jonathan McFall came off the bench to contribute 13 points and seven rebounds while Lashon Lindsey had 11 points and six rebounds.

Sean Fillon had 19 points, Samuel Tabe 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Griffins.

Seton Hill 63, SRU (women) 61 — Kennedy Middleton’s desperation 3-point shot hit the top of the backboard for The Rock (12-10, 7-9) as Seton Hill (16-9, 9-7) held on for the victory.

Middleton had 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists for SRU. Deleah Gibson contributed 15 points, six rebounds and four steals while Isabellah Middleton had a career-high 16 points and three steals.

Hallie Cowan led the Griffins with 19 points, including five treys.

Both Slippery Rock teams travel to California (Pa.) Monday at Morrow Field House. The women’s game is at 5:30 p.m., the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
