Richard Montgomery

Montgomery

Richard L. Montgomery, 78, of Harrisville, passed away at home on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023.

Richard was born in Franklin, on Feb. 11, 1944, the son to Richard E. and Twila Mae (Hepler) Montgomery and was raised in the Methodist faith.

He was married for 50 years to Patricia L. (Patterson) Montgomery, whom he married on Aug. 19, 1972.

Richard worked for many years as a draftsman at Kennametal. After Kennametal’s closing, he took a job as the office manager at Montgomery Block Works in Harrisville, from which he retired.

In the past, Richard had enjoyed and been involved in golf and bowling leagues in Slippery Rock. In retirement, he delighted in feeding the birds and fixing things, both around the house and for his grandchildren. Most of all, he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, at home; three children, Rachael Montgomery (Harrisville), Seth Montgomery (Harrisville), and Luke Montgomery and his wife, Rebecca (Grove City); and eight grandchildren, Mikayla, Ava, Evelynn, Parker, Adaline and Emma Montgomery, Willa Miller (father, Matthew Miller) and Brexton Montgomery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carolyn K. Wright; and a daughter-in-law, Ashley Montgomery.

Richard will be fondly remembered by many for his quick wit, sense of humor and his smile.
