Nana Carr
Nana M. Bardoner Carr, CRNA, 81, of Middlesex Township, Valencia, passed away on Saturday morning, Jan. 21, 2023, in the comfort of her home with her family by her side.
Born in Pittsburgh, on Nov. 21, 1941, she was the daughter of the late James O. and Jean Owrey Bardoner.
Nana graduated from Hampton High School in 1959 and from St. Margaret's Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. She then went to Mercy Hospital Nurse Anesthetist School and started her career at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. She then moved to Florida, where she got married in 1967 and was the only nurse anesthetist covering the Florida Keys for many years. In the early 1970s she returned to the Pittsburgh area, continuing her career and raising her daughters. In 1976, she returned to Fort Myers and worked at Lee Memorial Hospital. In 1989, she returned to Pittsburgh for her 30th reunion and moved back to Pennsylvania, working independently across the U.S. and then returned to UPMC Passavant Hospital, where she finished her 51-year career 10 years ago, retiring when she was 72.
She was a warm, welcoming person, who opened her home to family and friends.
She was a member of New Life Christian Ministries in Saxonburg, where she was a Stephen Minister.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Carr, whom she married on Dec. 2, 1967, and who died in 2015.
Surviving are two daughters, Cristy Luayne Rape (Patrick) of Butler and Marina J. Carr of Valencia; her grandchildren, Patrick, Kolten, Cory and Zoey Rape; her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Cash; her sister, Sandy Lee Rodenbaugh of Medina, Ohio; her brother, Dr. James B. Bardoner (Diane) of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; her nieces and nephews; and her many beloved rescue animals.
CARR — Arrangements are private under the direction of the MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, for Nana M. Bardoner Carr, who died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023.
