Daum

Meredith June Daum, 90, of Butler, passed away on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.

She was born on June 29, 1932, in Washington Township, Westmoreland County, and was the daughter of the late George Melvin Simpson and Florence (Crooks) Simpson.

June was a graduate of Butler Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, and had been an operating room nurse at Butler Memorial Hospital for over 40 years. She was a member of the nurse’s alumni and was a very active church member at Trinity Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed cross-stitching and reading.

Surviving are her daughter, Michele (Wayne) Whittington of Valencia; her son, Warren (Darby) Daum of Butler; three grandchildren, Christopher Hoobs, AJ (Emily) Daum and Jaimie (Andrew) Owens; a great-grandchild, Ezra Daum; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan “Bud” Daum, who died Oct. 24, 2017; her sisters, Corry and Melva; her brothers, Harold and Bob; and other beloved family and friends.

DAUM — A memorial service for Meredith June Daum, who died Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Dr., Butler, with her pastor, Joel Benson officiating.

Private interment was in the Venus Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, Butler.
