Catherine “Cathy” Ditty Cipoletti, 81, passed away peacefully at UPMC Shadyside Hospital on Jan. 17, 2023, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Until mid-December, she was doing the work she loved so very much, serving others through volunteering at Meals on Wheels and the Lighthouse Foundation, and visiting patients in the hospital.

Cathy was born on Aug. 13, 1941, to J. Robert and Catherine Ditty.

She graduated from Wellsburg (W.Va.) High School in 1959, and three months later, she married her high school sweetheart and one true love, Chuck Cipoletti.

She loved being a wife, mother and homemaker. She also assisted in the family business, an Esso/Exxon service station for many years. Her home was always open to anyone needing a sweet snack or a sympathetic ear. For many years, Chuck and Cathy’s home in Wellsburg was the site of many celebrations, card games and good times. She was an amazing hostess.

Cathy was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and lived her life loving and serving people.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Chuck Cipoletti; her parents, J. Robert and Catherine Ditty; and her brother, Jack Ditty.

She is survived by her son, Bryan (Cindy) Cipoletti of Butler; her daughter, Bonnie (Ernie) Anderson of Morgantown, W.Va.; her grandchildren, Maxwell (Nancy) Anderson, Abigail (Tyler) Hostetler, Chas Cipoletti, Lauren (Preston) Snyder and Jacob Cafaro (Catherine Lyons); and five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Leo Anderson, and Zoe, Bella and Cade Hostetler.

She is also survived by her sister, Nancy (Harold) Patterson; her brother-in-law, Gene (Judy) Cipoletti; her brother-in-law, Patsy (Laura) Cipoletti; her sister-in-law, Judith (Floyd) Conner; her sister-in-law, JoAnn Ditty; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Bryan and Bonnie would like to thank the staff at Butler Memorial Hospital and UPMC Shadyside for showing such great care, kindness and love to their mother in her final days.

CIPOLETTI — Family and friends of Catherine “Cathy” Ditty Cipoletti, who died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023, will be received from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at the Route 8 campus of Butler First United Methodist Church, 1802 N. Main Street Ext., Butler.

A memorial service will follow at noon.

The memorial service will also be livestreamed at youtube.com/firstchurchbutler.

Arrangements were handled by REASNER FUNERAL HOME, 1515 Charles St., Wellsburg, W.Va.

As per her wishes, memorial contributions in Cathy’s honor and memory can be sent to Meals on Wheels, 218 E. Jefferson Street, Butler, PA 16001. Please include a note with your contribution, recalling your favorite memory of Cathy.
