Floyd D. Groves, 92, of Callery, passed away Thursday afternoon, Jan. 12, 2023, at his son’s home in Slippery Rock.

Born in Ellwood City on April 29, 1930, he was the son of the late Alfred and Lillian Brown Groves.

Floyd retired from Halstead Industries with 40 years of service.

He was a member of Crestview Presbyterian Church in Callery.

He was a member of L.O.O.M. 957 (Loyal Order of the Moose) in Harmony and a former member of the Callery Volunteer Fire Company.

He especially loved playing cards and recently solitaire. Floyd watched and enjoyed all the Pittsburgh sports. Bowling had been a pastime. In later years, he watched TV, where the old time Western shows were his favorite.

Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Elinore Hammack Groves, who passed away on Oct. 23, 1995.

He is survived by two sons, F. David (July) Groves of Slippery Rock and James (Sue) Groves of North Carolina; one daughter, Cheryl (David) Creedon of Cranberry Township; one stepson, Blaine Ferianc of Butler; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

GROVES — Friends and relatives of Floyd D. Groves, who died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at A. CARL KINSEY-RONALD N. VOLZ FUNERAL HOME, 328 W. Main St., Evans City.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crestview Presbyterian Church, 210 Kline Ave., Callery.

Burial will be in the Evans City Cemetery.

The family has suggested memorial donations to AHN Hospice at 5814.thankyou4caring.org/hpcare.
