Grahel V. Gannon Jr., 74, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born on Feb. 22, 1948, in Butler, and was the son of the late Grahel V. Gannon and Alma (Karnes) Gannon.

Grahel had been a foreman for PennDOT for 30 years with the bridge, paving and snow removal crews. After retirement, he worked part time as a driver for Phil Fitts Ford for 15 years, where that job and the people there meant the world to him.

He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Grahel was a committee member of the Ducks Unlimited chapter of Butler County for over 30 years. He was an avid turkey hunter.

Surviving are his wife, Linda (Burel) Gannon; two daughters, Laurel (Ben Chaffee) Mitchell of Erie and Rachel (Michael) Singer of Grove City; a stepdaughter, Lynn (Tim) McFadden of Fredericksburg, Va.; a stepson, Robb Rumbarger of Meadville; his grandchildren, Molly (James) McFadden and Trevor McFadden; his great-grandchildren, Isla Berge McFadden and Daphne Carr; a sister, Judy Scott of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

GANNON — A visitation for Grahel V. Gannon Jr., who died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, will be held from noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.

Burial will be private.
