Paul Callihan, 86, of Chicora, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 11, 2023, from complications of heart, lung and kidney disease at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Paul was born in Butler on Oct. 12, 1936. He was the son of the late Sam and Tootie Waltman Callihan.

He was a 1955 graduate of Chicora High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Paul was a life member of Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora, where he was an altar server and usher.

He was a member of the Bradys Bend American Legion Post, and was a former member of the Chicora Moose Lodge.

He was employed at Armco in Butler for more than 36 years. He retired in 1992 as a turn foreman and was in the transportation department.

Paul was an avid deer and turkey hunter. He enjoyed bass fishing on the Allegheny at East Brady and at Lake Arthur at Moraine State Park. Paul had a strong love for his family and friends, who appreciated his great sense of humor. None of them were exempt from his good-natured teasing and joking.

Paul is survived by his wife, Brenda Francisco Callihan, whom he married on Oct. 19, 1979.

Also surviving is his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Angelica Callihan of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; a granddaughter, Madison Callihan of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a stepgrandson, Sebastian Melendez of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Sidney and Elaine Callihan, John and Donna Callihan, and Michael and Donna Callihan, and his sister, Joan Ball, all of Chicora; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brent and Bernadette Francisco of Chicora; his sisters-in-law, Sandy Luellen of Butler, Judy Callihan of Chicora, and Lois Callihan of Butler; as well as a number of nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Callihan; a grandson, Dexter Callihan; three brothers, Edwin Callihan, Richard “Dick” Callihan and Bernard “Bean” Callihan; a brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Ball; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Theresa and Jim Francisco; and a great niece.

CALLIHAN — Friends of Paul Callihan, who died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at HILE FUNERAL HOME OF CHICORA, 339 Chicora-Fenelton Road, Chicora.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, Chicora, with church pastor, the Rev. Matt McClain, officiating.

Interment will be in Hemphill Cemetery in Chicora.
