Sally Jancse
Sally Jo Jancse, 63, of Portersville, passed away at Butler Memorial Hospital on Monday, Jan. 2, 2023.
She was born on Nov. 18, 1959, in Butler, to Arthur Clayton Stickel and Margaret Jane Stickel.
She married James Jay Jancse on Sept. 19, 1981.
Sally was a member of the Portersville Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where she helped with the “Keenagers” and taught vacation Bible school. For many years, she served on the board of the Butler County Federated Library System and Prospect Library.
She and Jim enjoyed traveling in their camper, and most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was everyone’s “Aunt Sally.”
Sally enjoyed golf and was a member of a golf league at Green Meadows Golf Course. She also enjoyed bowling and was part of a fun-filled league who referred to themselves as the “Bowling B******.” She was an awesome cook and always took care of others.
Survivors include her husband, Jim, at home; two daughters, Jill M. (James) Nunnermacker of Morgantown, W.Va., and Michelle C. (Mark) Cypher of Chestertown, Md.; her mother, Margaret “Peg” Stickel of Portersville; two sisters, Kim (Robert) Dempsey of Portersville, and Cindy Mittiga of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Layla and Charlotte Nunnermacker, and Ana Cypher; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
JANCSE — Family and friends of Sally Jo Jancse, who died Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, may gather from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Monday at Portersville Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1297 Perry Hwy., Portersville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Dana Opp of the church presiding.
Interment will be in Portersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Portersville Food Bank or the Prospect Library.
