Mental health support group starting
The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Butler County has a new support group covering the Slippery Rock area that will meet the first Saturday of every month.
A news release from NAMI said the meetings will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the Slippery Rock Community Library at 465 N. Main St. the first Saturday of each month, starting Jan. 7.
NAMI Family Support Groups are free, confidential and safe groups of families helping other families who live with mental health challenges. In NAMI Family Support groups, families join a caring group of individuals helping one another by utilizing their collective lived experiences and learned wisdom.
In-person sessions do not require registration, but another support group, with meetings at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month, will be hosted on Zoom.
