William K. “Whistle” Charlton, 68, of Freedom, New Sewickley Township, passed away on Friday morning, Dec. 30, 2022, at Concordia at Villa St. Joseph in Baden.

Born in Pittsburgh, on April 1, 1954, he was the son of the late William and G. Marie Drum Charlton.

Whistle was self-employed at C. & N. Automotive Machine, Inc. in Zelienople.

He enjoyed local stock car racing and NASCAR. He was a member of the National Hot Rod Association. He enjoyed go-cart construction and repair.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen A. Burk Charlton, whom he married on May 25, 1974; a son, Evan A. Charlton of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Marissa A. Charlton (Eric McMurray) of McCandless Township; his brothers, John H. Charlton (Jean) of Valencia and Jeffrey A. Charlton (Becky Boyd) of Portersville; and a sister-in-law, Angela Charlton of Allison Park.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald E. Charlton.

CHARLTON — Friends of William K. “Whistle” Charlton, who died Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nancy Zahn officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mt. Chestnut.
