New Year’s Eve race registration open
Registration is open for the Harmony 5K race and 1 Mile Fun Run, which will be held on the afternoon of New Year’s Eve. The race is part of a “Silvester” in which the community celebrates its German heritage by ringing in the new year at 6 p.m. — midnight in Germany.
The 5K race begins at 3:30 p.m. and the Fun Run at 4:15 p.m. The event started in 2006 and continues to a year-end tradition.
Runners can register online at runsignup.com/Race/PA/Harmony/HarmonySilvester5K or race day at Grace Church of Harmony Youth Center at 538 Main St. in Harmony.
Pre-register at a cost of $25 until Dec. 15, when the price rises to $30. Pre-register for the Fun Run for $10 until Dec. 15, when the cost will go up to $15.
Registration is also available the day of the event. Cash or checks are the only payments accepted on race day.
Early packet pickup will be at the Youth Center from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30. Doors open race day at 2 p.m.
Age group awards will be done in five-year increments and include awards for the top three men and women.
