USDA reminds farmers to vote in regional committee election

To be counted in the Farm Service Agency county committee elections, eligible farmers and ranchers should return their ballots to the Butler/Beaver/Allegheny County FSA office by Dec. 4, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

In Butler County, nominee Edward H. Smith of Smiths Incredibull Farms in Washington Township is running for a three-year term as a committee member.

To be eligible to vote in the county committee election, participants must have provided information about their farming or ranching operation to the FSA, even if they have not applied or received program benefits.

Producers who are not of legal voting age, but supervise and conduct the farming operations of an entire farm, are eligible to vote.

To find out if you are eligible to vote, contact the Butler/Beaver/Allegheny County FSA office at 625 Evans City Rd., Butler or call 724- 482-4800 ext. 2.

Newly elected committee members will take office Jan. 1, 2024.
