Edwin Yahn

Edwin Daniel Yahn, 92, of Harrisville, left this world in the early morning hours of Dec. 22, 2022, following a brief illness.

Ed was born in Franklin on July 3, 1930, to Kermith T. and Thelma P. (Buckley) Yahn. He married Hazel L. Grinnen on March 9, 1951.

A Korean War veteran, Edwin was sent to the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division at Camp Breckinridge, Ky., in February 1952. He was trained on heavy weapons before shipping out of Seattle, Wash., to Korea. As a combat private, he was assigned to the 40th Division 224th Infantry. He proudly served his country at the 38th Parallel in the 1st Battalion as a mortar platoon sergeant.

Ed retired from Cooper Industries, following 42 years of service.

He was an active 57-year member and past commander of Harrisville American Legion Post 852, and he served on the post’s honor guard. He was also a member of VFW Post 519 in Grove City.

Ed was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Grove City.

He leaves behind Hazel, his beloved wife of more than 71 years; a daughter, Deborah (Chester) Glenn; a son, Edwin L. Yahn; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James D. Yahn.

YAHN — Visitation hours for Edwin Daniel Yahn, who died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Wednesday at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

The funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Willard Morse officiating, with military honors to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 220 S. Broad St., Grove City, PA 16127, or the Trust for the National Mall, Korean War Veterans Memorial at www.nationalmall.org.
