Jennings Center plans programs for new year
BRADY TWP — Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, has plannned the following activities for the new year:
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, Prairie Improvement Day. The Jennings staff is looking for individuals willing to spend a Saturday morning outdoors to help manage the unique prairie ecosystem. For lunch, local restaurants will provide plenty of warm, hearty soup. Each participant will receive a commemorative soup mug as a special thank-you. Participants must be age 12 or older and should dress for the weather, including gloves and warm, waterproof boots. Register for this program no later than Jan. 13 at events.dcnr.pa.gov or by contacting the center at 724-794-6011.
Dec. 31 through Jan. 8, New Year, New Views Self-Guided Walkabout. From Dec. 31 through Jan. 8, visitors can take a special, limited-time only New Year, New Views Self-Guided Walkabout that will not only showcase some of the best scenery of the park, but will highlight insights into rest, resilience, hope, and more, as visitors view and contemplate the flora, fauna, water, and winds of change around them.
A free 12-stop guide and map to the stops will be available at park brochure racks, in the park office, or electronically by request. Routes of various lengths are possible. For questions, or to request an electronic guide, contact Jennings at 724-794-6011 or at jenningssp@pa.gov.
6 p.m. the last Wednesday of January, February and March, Jennings Nature Trivia Nights hosted by the Jennings staff. Come solo or as a team. Everyone can play! Be ready to compete, have fun, and test your nature knowledge. Prizes for winners. This event is free, and no registration is required.
