Republicans call on Biden administration secure U.S.-Mexico border
Nearly 50 House Republicans sent a letter Friday urging the Biden administration to extend Title 42, to extend the policy allowing for rapid expulsion of migrants and asylum-seekers at the U.S.-Mexico border.
U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th, who was among the 50 representatives, sent a news release Friday which said that under Title 42, migrants were expelled at rates 40% or higher for nearly every month in the 2022 fiscal year, which considerably alleviated congestion along the borders.
“The Biden administration must once again extend Title 42 until it can produce an effective, long-term solution to secure our borders and reform our immigration system,” Kelly said.
