Zelma Fisher

Fisher

Zelma “Mickey” Fisher passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Oct. 18, 1930, in Akron, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Horton and Bertha (Upton) Sparks, and was the youngest of three siblings.

Mickey received her master’s degree in Christian education from Clarksville School of Theology. She went on to help in the establishment of Homeacre Christian Academy, where she flourished in her teaching career. In addition to teaching, her most important roles were as a wife, mother and grandmother.

Mickey married her husband, Pastor David Fisher, on Feb. 14, 1950, and she spent 71 wonderful years with him until his passing. She loved the family they created, especially her grandchildren, and had looked forward to time spent with her whole family. She also cherished church fellowship. Her unyielding faith was always shared with those around her. She will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by six children, Dawn Oesterling, Roseann Thornton, Jeanna Stallings, Daniel Fisher, Nathan Fisher and Rebecca Ray.

She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
