Gary Allan Smith, 73, of Renfrew, passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, at Heritage Valley Hospital: Good Samaritan Hospice in Beaver.

He was born March 2, 1949, in Allison Park, the son of the late Arthur E. and Edna Sue Smith.

Gary was a member of Connoquenessing United Methodist Church. He was part of the construction company that built the church, alongside his father. He was a self-employed construction and yard maintenance worker for two churches. Gary also had been a security guard at various companies. He belonged to the Butler CB Rangers. Gary was an active outdoorsman who loved taking fishing trips to Ontario, Canada. He enjoyed attending Chicago and Journey concerts. He loved riding motorcycles, fishing, wood crafting, hunting and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed going to eat at Ponderosa, where he earned the most consecutive visits by one person of 45 straight days.

Surviving are his son, Nathan Smith; his daughter, Michele Smith, both of Slippery Rock; a grandson, Dylan Gibbons of Slippery Rock; stepchildren, Allen (Wanda) Thompson of Grove City and Sherry Grey of Petrolia; and four step-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolly (Smith) Hackbarth; his second wife, Marlene Snow Smith; a sister, Shirley Smith; and one step-granddaughter.

SMITH — Friends of Gary Allan Smith, who died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, will be received from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. Thursday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.

The burial will be private.
