Robert Wilbert “Bob” Lindey, 92, of Slippery Rock, West Liberty borough, passed away at his residence on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022.

He was born in Brady Township, Butler County, on March 25, 1930, to Harry Sylvester Lindey and Myrtle Henrietta Long Lindey.

Bob married Shirley Ann Fox on Nov. 20, 1953.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the machine-gun platoon and motor corps.

He was a lifelong farmer and worked in the family farming business his entire life.

He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher for many years.

He enjoyed hunting with his father, brothers and sons.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; four sons, Robert M. Lindey (Holly), Steven E. Lindey (Rebecca), Stanley L. Lindey (Trudy) and Keith A. Lindey (Christa), all of Slippery Rock; his daughter, Cheryl Ann Fierst (Ronald) of Butler; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; three brothers, Joseph Richard, Harry S. and Paul W.; and his niece, Amy Lindey.

LINDEY — The family of Robert Wilbert “Bob” Lindey, who died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Friday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Tom Meling presiding.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Zion Baptist Church Memorial Committee.

Interment will be in the Zion Baptist Cemetery, Worth Township.
