Mary Rose Limmer
Mary Rose Limmer, 95, of Zelienople, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022.
She is remembered with gratitude for her beautiful life by her loving family: her sister, Sylvia (Joseph) Gange; her children, Victoria (Joseph) Waple, Karl (Carol) Limmer, Nancy Riordan, Ken (Denise) Limmer and Mary Jo Limmer; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl W. Limmer; her sisters, Domenica “Mayme” Theodore and Dolores “Dede” Vazzana; and her son-in-law, John Riordan.
Mary Rose was born in Pittsburgh on Jan. 9, 1927, to parents Salvatore and Rose Vazzana. She graduated from Annunciation High School and raised her family in the North Side of Pittsburgh before moving to Zelienople. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes and kitchen gadgets. She hosted many special-occasion dinners for her family, with her grandchildren battling over who got the most “hats” in their bowl of Grammy’s Thanksgiving soup. She had a bright and active mind and was a savvy internet user who enjoyed making (and beating) new online acquaintances on Words with Friends. Her family treasures the memories of many wonderful vacations with her at Bethany Beach. Most of all, Mary Rose was a devoted mother, dedicating all of her days to the care and comfort at home of her special daughter, Mary Jo.
