Bernadette Calabro
Bernadette O. Calabro, 57, of Cranberry Township, passed away suddenly on Nov. 20, 2022.
She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Emma (Kupecz) O’Connor.
Bernadette grew up in the South Side Slopes of Pittsburgh.
She earned a B.A. in business administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1988. At IUP, she was a founding member of the Theta Phi Alpha Sorority chapter.
She was the beloved wife of Joseph W. Calabro; loving mother of Joseph W. Calabro Jr. and Patrick Calabro; special aunt to Emily Schneider; and the sister of Julie (Tom) Bart, John O’Connor and the late Patricia O’Connor.
Bernadette is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Whether it was traveling to national parks with her family, seeing the latest production at The Strand Theater, or meeting up with the Bunko or book club girls, Bernadette liked to keep busy. When staying home, she was known to watch — and then rewatch — “The West Wing,” cuddled on the couch with her dog, Bruce. She was also known for her lively Cinco de Mayo parties, and dedication to Jimmy Buffett concerts.
While her children were in school, Bernie was an active member of everything. She was in the PTA, was a Boy Scout leader, was the Elroy Bingo Queen, and did absolutely everything to make sure her boys were supported and loved.
Bernadette will be remembered as a fighter. She will be loved and missed forever.
