Doris Arlene Peters Michael passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, in Papillion, Neb. Born and raised in Cranberry Township, she lived 92 of her 94 years here in the Mars area. Her Mars High School yearbook listed her as “a good friend to all,” and she truly was to all who knew her.

She was born July 24, 1928, to John Boyd Peters and Mary Esther Hazlett. She attended Sample School and Mars High School before marrying Harold Herman Michael in her family farmhouse on Oct. 12, 1948. She lived life serving others, lending a listening ear and cooking and baking for friends and family. She loved to garden, birdwatch and study the Scriptures. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She will be forever cherished by her remaining family: son, John (Marie) Michael; grandchildren she raised, Bryan (Nicole) Whittenberger and Lori (Raun) Carnley; grandchildren Ralph Michael, Mariah (Adam) Joyce and Maranda (Josh) Cox; and 18 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Nola Blanton; brothers, Charles, John Donald and Richard; her husband, Harold; daughter, Dawn Whittenberger; sons, Peter and Kevin; and grandchildren, Robert and Jarret Whittenberger and Zachary Michael.

MICHAEL — Funeral services for Doris Arlene Peters Michael, who died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, will be noon Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation will be just prior from 10 to 11:45 a.m., followed by internment at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, alongside her husband.
