Butler County parks have some winter happenings
Butler County Parks and Recreation has several winter happenings for county residents to look out for.
Lance Welliver, director of Butler County Parks and Recreation, said Santa’s Workshop is returning to Alameda Park after a three-year absence, but the department has a new event — Parents Night Out — that aims to give adults and children a winter experience.
“We're just doing it as a start for parents to drop their kids off so they can go shopping or go dining,” Welliver said. “This is just something new, to give parents a little break for the holidays. There is a chance kids can go out somewhere too.”
Parents Night Out is scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 9. Welliver said parks and rec staff will supervise the children who attend, and it is aimed at children ages 5 to 12 years old. The cost is $10 per child, and registration is limited to 50 people.
“Based on how this goes we may add some more throughout the year,” Welliver said.
Welliver also said the department is having another holiday gift offer, in its season pool pass sale for the Alameda Waterpark.
Pass prices range from $90 for one person to $250 for a family of five. Welliver said the passes can be purchased on the parks and recreation website, bcpr.recdesk.com, by calling the department or visiting in person. The sale will be in place from Dec. 1 to 31.
“It's the best rate for the year,” Welliver said.
